I am a seller on NZ and i registered eariler on this site, but i did not complete the activation as it is stated that the site is only for Australia only. I was a bit disappointed about this. New Zealand and Australia have a lots of crossover business and i think this auction site should open to NZ. Trademe as the biggest auction site in NZ had already opened the door for the australians to buy n sell their stuffs.

I think you should open the site to the US only. It would be better for everyone. It would bring more money to the site and the sellers.

I tend to agree with the general opinion that this site should be reserved for Australian goods. But also understand that there are commercial considerations that need to be considered as SellmyStuff is a commercial enterprise.

The only suggestion I can make to this discussion is that overseas buyers pay a "good behaviour" bond which is only refunded if there are no complaints after 1 year of trading.

It could get complicated but it would soon sort the scam artists from the genuine sellers.

Just a thought.

Cheers Chris The Bookman :-)

Me again - this might be completely stupid - but rather than offer an "auction" with "bids" how about offer a "you tell me" listing with "haggle offers": the seller has no price but offers the item for a fixed time to anyone interested in making an offer; the buyer can place an offer they want to pay; other buyers CAN see the "haggle bids" placed by others (perhaps without personal details); the seller can then contact the buyer if interested and negotiate; just because you're not the winning bidder doesn't mean you will not get the item; there is no obligation on either side; its more an open haggle market with no obligation, this begins a negotiation process that fits your model of "facilitation".

I am maybe crazy!Just an idea.

Unfortuneatly, you may have to get rid of some accounts with seller who do not respond. I have been in on the first year with a few sites. The sites who get rid of the bad accounts last, the ones who just allow them to stay because of listing, search etc, end up closing. I personally prefer to pay an upfront fee. Buyers want their items now, not later. And the flat fee structure allows me to budget in the cost, just in case it doesn't wor. I have been selling online for 13+ years, and have seen just about everything. But, I'm still here :) Gina

I would rather pay a flat fee and list buy it now. I did like the auction format, but it seems that buyers prefer to get the item now, not a week later.

I am in the US. I quit using Ebay years ago because of the problems with bad cs and non receipt. I had over 1100 fb, a very hard thing to leave behind. I never list worthless items, always respond quickly to inquiries. I would love to be able to join the site. I do agree that there should be some sort of limits to keep the worthless or sellers that list huge amounts and never respond. The site looks really good. Even if I can't join, keep it up! One thing - a wanted section would be good. Best wishes :) Gina

Hi there may I make a sugestion in having Auctions is not a bad idea infact sometimes its good for the seller. In mainly small to not so small items and if there working it makes it easer for them.Like on trading post or ebay. But Ebay also has bidding which is alright because sometimes you sell your items for more than what you asked for. I say give it a trialfor a few months theres no harm in it thanks.Trish

Your site is fantastic but it appears that you are not getting the support you need from the Australian public and more importantly, the Australian sellers. I have contacted sellers regarding their items and of these, 3 have not responded. As a buyer this is very frustrating especially and even more so considering Sellmystuff is so easy to use.

As much as I am for everything Australian, I feel that unless support from the Australian public increases, you will have no option but to make Sellmystuff available to international sellers. Buyers want items to buy and they want sellers to respond when an enquiry is made and as a business owner, I can’t see what is so hard about that. If you take the time to put items up for sale, it just makes sense that you would respond to any enquiries.

Something I have done is advertised my Sellmystuff Shop to all my customers, friends and family and asked them to pass it on the same way.

Guys, Sellmystuff is a fantastically simple site to use and by far the best value for money. I wish you well and all the success in the world but you need more sellers and if you are getting requests from sellers abroad, then it just proves that you have a good thing and they want to be part of it.

Hi Stuart - thanks for the comment and the thoughts about the natural disasters we are going through. It certainly makes you feel very luck that you have all your family and a roof still over your head. We have had close to 24 hours of rain here and we wish it would go and rain down south in Victoria to put out the fires. Most of us in Australia have seen bad bush fires before but never anything like this.

Kind Regards
Phill Downey
